At Dümmen Orange, we place people at the core of our training and audit methodologies, ensuring operational excellence through continuous improvement.

Improving knowledge and skills

“The training and auditing advancements we’ve made are strongly aligned with our sustainability goals, especially in crop protection,” says Manuela van Leeuwen, Phytosanitary Manager. “Empowering people with knowledge of biological alternatives and sustainable practices promotes a healthier ecosystem and ensures long-term operational viability. Through a series of webinars, we transfer invaluable knowledge on a global scale," affirms Manuela.

The challenge has been to adapt our training and audits to individuals globally, in different languages, with different learning styles.

Knowledge as key

Our approach to improving our employees’ knowledge of Greencare involves comprehensive webinars covering topics like hygiene and crop protection. These sessions educate participants on preventive measures and pest control strategies and prioritize their safety and well-being.

Manuela explains, "After completing the webinar series, participants apply knowledge through practical assignments as part of a stringent exam."

Furthermore, a three-day face-to-face audit training equips employees with auditing practices, including theory exams and field audits, ensuring thorough risk analysis using tools like FMEA.

“We’ve also integrated the Six Sigma framework into our Green Good Experimental Practices training to ensure employees gain additional tools for conducting thorough analyses and making informed decisions,” furthers Manuela.

Driving learning forward

The impact of these efforts is significant, aligning strongly with sustainability goals, particularly in crop protection. By empowering individuals with knowledge of biological alternatives and sustainable practices, the Greencare team fosters a healthier ecosystem and ensures long-term operational viability.
